I've finally finished the mini-mural for San Anto Cultural Art! In a couple of weeks, they'll auction the murals from all the participating artists, after which the murals will be permanently applied to the wall of it's new home. Below are photos of the process from start to finish.
I submitted several sketches for the San Anto Cultural Arts
Mini-Mural Mural Project. And the winner is.... the Mil Mascaras
postage stamp! The mural will measure 10'x10' and it'll be painted over
the course of the next few weeks. It's a
pretty neat idea because the painting will be done on a type of fabric
that will be permanently placed on a wall upon the mural's completion.
Today I order the paints and then-it's fun time!

Pictured above is one of two connecting mini-murals set between the larger primary murals titled "The Monuments of Man" designed and painted by Alex Rubio and myself in 1989 at the Mirasol Courts while working for the Community Cultural Arts Organization. The housing project underwent a major renovation a few years ago but the murals were not preserved. Below are the three primary murals.
Noah's Ark Mural. 8'x 23'. Cathedral of Hope. Click on the image for a larger view.
This is a mural designed by Dan Peeler that I painted in 2002 in Dallas for the Cathedral of Hope for their children's activity room. Dan did pencil sketch but let me select the palette and in general gave me a lot of creative leg room in my approach to his idea.
