I grew up watching Rankin and bass holiday specials . They had imaginative settings and characters and great songs too . A couple of my favorite characters are the Miser brothers - Snow and Heat. Here's my homage to them with a little added sparkle just for fun. It's acrylic on wood and measures 12''x 15 1/2'' .
So this weekend Thanksgiving break started for the elementary schools I visit every week to share my love of cartooning . As incentives/rewards for completing their cartooning lesson , I started giving out coloring pages of popular cartoon characters which I'd drawn and taken to the local copy place to duplicate as many as I a could afford. Well, turns out the kids not only enjoyed coloring them but they'd also derive a great deal of pleasure tracing the drawings . It really gave them a sense of accomplishment .
Now the coloring pages are permanently tied in to my lessons as well. And the kids have given me suggestions for more characters to draw for them too ! This holiday week will be a busy , fun one for me trying to draw as many of different characters for the kids as possible and still find time to enjoy some turkey. I've got several coloring pages pencilled in .
